Miami Armored has equipped a Lexus LX 700 with comprehensive ballistic protection, turning it into an armored SUV that can withstand AK-47 fire and grenade blasts. The vehicle also features ballistic glass to protect the cabin from high-powered rifle rounds.
While the black exterior of this Lexus LX 700 may appear unassuming, it conceals significant upgrades designed to enhance occupant safety. Though it won’t outrun law enforcement, the SUV is engineered to shield passengers from potential attacks.
Key Armoring Features of the Lexus LX 700
Ballistic Protection and Structural Reinforcements
The LX 700, armored by Miami Armored, is built to endure 7.62 mm rifle rounds, including those fired from an AK-47. Additionally, the vehicle can withstand two hand grenade blasts thanks to its 360-degree perimeter protection.
Miami Armored has reinforced the SUV’s body panels and installed ballistic glass throughout. The company also added armor plates to critical areas such as the fuel tank, engine bay, and battery to prevent incapacitation from rifle fire targeting these components.
Other structural upgrades include a reinforced rear bulkhead, reinforced hinges, and run-flat tires. The SUV also features an overlap system across its panels to prevent bullets from penetrating the passenger cell.
Optional Upgrades for Enhanced Security
Miami Armored offers a range of optional upgrades, including:
- Night vision camera
- Siren and PA system
- LED strobe lights (front and rear)
- Reinforced bumpers
- Oxygen filtration system
- Radiator protection
- Roof escape hatch
Hybrid Powertrain Remains Unchanged
In a strategic move to maintain performance, Miami Armored has not altered the Lexus LX 700’s powertrain. The SUV retains its 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid engine, delivering 457 hp and 583 lb-ft (790 Nm) of torque.
According to Miami Armored, the added weight from the armoring has minimal impact on the vehicle’s performance. This assurance is likely to appeal to high-profile clients seeking both luxury and security.
