Spy photographers have captured the first images of the facelifted Lexus NX, revealing a redesigned front end with a more aggressive appearance.
The compact crossover, Lexus’ second best-selling model, is undergoing a facelift to refresh its design and maintain its market appeal. Prototypes were recently spotted testing near the Nürburgring, indicating that this will be a relatively minor update.
Front End Redesign
The most noticeable changes are at the front of the vehicle. The new design features a prominent spindle grille with two horizontal bars at the bottom. The headlights have also been updated, incorporating two lighting strips that serve as daytime running lights and turn signals.
Below the headlights, new triangular intakes enhance the sportier look of the crossover. While these could suggest an F Sport prototype, confirmation is not yet available. Additionally, the front bumper now includes a rounded lower lip.
Profile and Rear End Updates
The profile of the Lexus NX appears to remain largely unchanged, though updated wheels are expected. Similarly, the rear end is likely to see only minor modifications, hidden beneath camouflage.
Potential Interior and Safety Upgrades
Spy photographers did not capture the interior, but the NX may adopt a new steering wheel with “LEXUS” lettering instead of the familiar “L” logo, following the design of the Lexus ES. The model could also feature the new Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, an upgrade from the current Safety System+ 3.0.
Powertrain Options
Powertrain details for the facelifted Lexus NX remain unconfirmed, but the current model offers several options:
- A turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 275 hp (202 kW / 279 PS) and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque.
- A hybridized 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a combined output of 240 hp (179 kW / 243 PS).
- A plug-in hybrid featuring a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, electric motors, and an 18.1 kWh battery pack, delivering 304 hp (227 kW / 308 PS) and 37 miles (60 km) of electric-only range.
