Nissan Reveals 2027 Rogue with Hybrid Powertrain
Nissan has taken a major step in its recovery plan by unveiling the all-new 2027 Rogue, the brand’s top-selling SUV in North America. The next-generation model introduces a refreshed design and a new hybrid powertrain, the e-Force, which aligns with Nissan’s focus on AI-Defined Vehicles.
"Rogue has long been at the heart of Nissan's success in the U.S. and Canada, and the next generation represents a major step forward for this incredibly important model. With hybrid e‑Power, the all-new Rogue will bring the smooth, responsive feel of electric motor driving to one of the most popular compact SUVs in North America, while staying true to what customers value most — efficiency, confidence and everyday usability."

The e-Force hybrid system uses a gasoline-powered engine to generate electricity for the batteries, powering the vehicle. This technology has been deployed in over 2 million vehicles since 2016, according to Nissan officials. While the company has not yet released specifications such as power output or range, it confirmed these details will be shared closer to the Rogue’s launch in the second half of 2024.
Xterra’s Return Confirmed for 2028
Nissan also confirmed the return of the iconic Xterra as a body-on-frame SUV, set to arrive in the second half of 2028. The teaser image provided by Nissan shows a design that diverges significantly from the original model, which was discontinued in 2015.
The Xterra will be part of a new family of U.S.-built models on a dedicated body-on-frame platform. Nissan plans to expand this platform to include pickups and multi-row SUVs across both the Nissan and Infiniti brands. Capability will be a key focus for the Xterra, which will offer V6 or new V6 Hybrid powertrains.
Nissan’s Strategic Shift
The introduction of the 2027 Rogue and the return of the Xterra reflect Nissan’s strategic shift toward electrification and off-road capability. The e-Force hybrid system and the new body-on-frame platform underscore the automaker’s commitment to innovation and customer demand for versatile, efficient vehicles.
