The Pentagon has finalized classified AI agreements with OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Elon Musk’s xAI, and the startup Reflection, enabling the agency to deploy their AI tools in sensitive national security operations. The announcement, made on Friday, follows earlier partnerships with OpenAI and xAI for the "lawful" use of their AI systems.

According to a report by The Information, Google has also struck a similar classified agreement with the Defense Department. The Wall Street Journal previously highlighted these developments, though details remain partially undisclosed.

Notably absent from the latest agreements is Anthropic, a company the Pentagon had previously used for classified information processing. The exclusion stems from the Defense Department’s designation of Anthropic as a supply-chain risk, raising concerns over potential vulnerabilities in its AI infrastructure.

These classified AI partnerships underscore the Pentagon’s accelerating efforts to integrate advanced artificial intelligence into military and intelligence operations, despite ongoing debates over security, ethics, and oversight in AI deployment.
