Dragonwilds Anniversary Update Aims to Rekindle Classic RuneScape Vibes

One year after launching into early access, RuneScape: Dragonwilds has received a major anniversary update from developer Jagex. The patch focuses on reinforcing the game’s connection to classic RuneScape by reintroducing beloved mechanics and content.

Bringing Back the Classics: Iconic Quests Return

The update reintroduces three quests, including the very first RuneScape quest, Cook's Assistant. While the quest in Dragonwilds differs slightly from its MMO counterpart, players can still access it from the start. The quest tasks players with gathering ingredients for goblins, offering early-game XP and knowledge.

For more experienced players, the update adds the Animal Magnetism quest in the Fractured Plains region. Completing this quest rewards players with the recipe for Ava's Accumulator, a tool that helps conserve arrows during Ranged skill training.

The update also introduces a brand-new quest, A Room With Garou, designed to help players train their Construction skill.

New Skills and Gameplay Enhancements

The anniversary update marks the long-awaited addition of the Fishing skill to Dragonwilds. Players can unlock this skill by speaking to the Wise Old Man, who provides beginner fishing gear. As players progress, they unlock new fishing gear and fish types across higher-tier map areas.

Currently, Dragonwilds features 12 fish types and three new spells dedicated to the Fishing skill. The update also improves the Cooking skill by allowing players to prepare their freshly caught fish for sustenance.

Quality-of-Life Improvements and Smaller Additions

The anniversary update includes several quality-of-life changes and smaller-scale content additions to enhance the player experience:

  • More Buried Treasure with improved rewards
  • Scarecrow Scavenging feature
  • Two new Special Attacks for Masterwork weapons
  • Display Fish trophies in your base
  • Option to toggle auto-run
  • Ability to open menus while sleeping
  • Non-aggressive behavior for lower-tier enemies like kebbits and cows unless provoked
  • Runes now stack to 9,999 in the inventory
  • Increased Zamorakian Warrior Pact drop rates from Elite Black Knights

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Dragonwilds?

Jagex has confirmed that more content updates are planned for RuneScape: Dragonwilds, continuing to expand the game’s features and player engagement.

"The anniversary update aims to make Dragonwilds feel more 'RuneScapey' by bringing back classic elements and improving accessibility for new and veteran players alike."
