Spyker, one of the world’s oldest carmakers, has defied expectations once again. After over a decade of financial turmoil and a prolonged legal dispute, the Dutch automaker has emerged to unveil its next-generation supercar: the C8 Preliator.
The highly anticipated debut will take place on August 14, 2026, at The Quail Lodge during Monterey Car Week. Spyker has assigned the debut vehicle the chassis number 270, as revealed in a two-minute video posted on the official Spyker Cars YouTube channel.
Company CEO Victor Muller refers to the model as the new C8 Preliator in a separate video. The name first surfaced in 2016, when Spyker unveiled a coupe version of the supercar at the Geneva International Motor Show. A convertible variant was later introduced at the same event the following year. Whether the upcoming model is a ground-up redesign or an evolution of its predecessor remains uncertain.
While details about the car’s appearance and pricing remain undisclosed, Muller confirmed one critical aspect: the C8 Preliator will not be electric or electrified. Instead, it will be powered by an 800-horsepower V-8 twin-turbo engine, delivering a projected top speed of 217+ mph.
The video teases additional insights leading up to the August 2026 debut. Observations suggest the car is a two-door convertible, likely constructed with aluminum to optimize weight. The cabin appears designed for two occupants rather than four, with a mid-mounted engine configuration strongly implied. The engine’s origin remains unclear, though Spyker has historically sourced V-8s from Audi—including a 4.2-liter unit used in previous C8 models. However, that engine may no longer meet modern global emissions and regulatory standards.
Muller acknowledged Spyker’s tumultuous past but expressed optimism about the brand’s future in the video.
“It’s been an interesting ride in the past few years, but we’re here, and we’re building cars. This is the very first one of many, many that we’re going to build in the next few years.”
The announcement marks a significant milestone for Spyker, signaling its return to the supercar market after years of financial instability and legal challenges.
