Tyler Shough is eagerly anticipating the 2024 NFL Draft, a stark contrast to his experience a year ago when he nervously awaited his own selection. The New Orleans Saints drafted Shough in the second round, the 40th overall pick, and after nine starts in the 2023 season, he has emerged as the face of the franchise.

This week, Shough is excitedly awaiting the three-day draft event. The Saints, holding the eighth overall pick, are widely expected to select a wide receiver to bolster their offense. Among the prospects drawing attention is Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate, who has publicly expressed his desire to play alongside Shough. Louisville wideout Chris Bell, a former teammate of Shough’s, has also voiced his interest in joining the Saints.

“To get that recognition from some of those guys that are obviously really good players, elite-level talent, it’s an honor. But knowing that, we have so much more to grow. And I have so much more to grow.”

Shough continued, “So obviously, I want to keep doing everything I can and to get some of those guys would be really good.”

The Saints have conducted extensive research on several wide receiver prospects, including Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson, and USC’s Makai Lemon. Chris Bell was among the players the Saints hosted for a top-30 pre-draft visit.

“I’ve watched almost all their film from college, and just [out of] curiosity, I think all those guys have had elite-level play,” Shough said. “I think the biggest thing — at least from what I’ve seen all over the draft board — there’s a lot of talent balance.”

Shough emphasized his confidence in the Saints’ current wide receiver corps, which includes standouts like Chris Olave, Mason Tipton, and Devaughn Vele. Earlier this week, he organized workouts with his receivers at Tulane University to prepare for the upcoming season.

As the draft approaches, Shough shared his anticipation, saying, “I'm exactly like you guys: I'm excited to find out [who the Saints are going to draft].”
