Xiaomi has officially unveiled the flagship YU7 GT SUV at the Beijing Auto Show this week, marking a significant upgrade over the standard YU7 model.

The YU7 GT was developed in part at the Nürburgring, ensuring sharper handling and performance enhancements tailored for enthusiasts. Pricing for the GT is expected to start between $65,800 and $73,100 (450,000 to 500,000 yuan) in China.

Design and Styling: Aggressive and Track-Ready

Spy images from earlier this month confirmed the YU7 GT’s more aggressive appearance compared to the standard YU7. Key design upgrades include:

  • Flarred wheel arches for a muscular stance
  • A menacing front fascia featuring a blacked-out grille and unique air intakes
  • A carbon fiber and 24-karat gold badge positioned on the hood
  • 21- and 22-inch wheels for enhanced aesthetics and performance
  • Upgraded brakes and aerodynamic tweaks at the rear, including a dramatic diffuser and a small lip spoiler

Performance: 990 HP and Track-Focused Upgrades

While the YU7 GT may draw comparisons to the Ferrari Purosangue, its true strengths lie beneath the surface. Xiaomi has equipped the SUV with:

  • A new front motor delivering 386 hp
  • A new rear motor with 604 hp
  • A combined output of 990 hp, falling short of the SU7 Ultra’s 1,527 hp but still outperforming EVs like the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric (630 hp)

The YU7 GT is expected to reach a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h), with a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint likely in the low-2-second range. Additional performance features include:

  • A new air suspension system
  • Rear-axle torque vectoring
  • Traction control tweaks
  • Optional carbon ceramic brakes from Brembo for track enthusiasts

Market Positioning and Sales Context

Xiaomi has not yet confirmed final pricing, but the YU7 GT is expected to start between $65,800 and $73,100 (450,000 to 500,000 yuan). The model aims to revitalize interest in the YU7 lineup, which has seen sales decline from a peak of nearly 40,000 units in December to just under 15,000 units in March.
