元ニューヨーク市長で弁護士のルディ・ジュリアーニ氏（81）が、フロリダ州の病院に重体で入院していることが、ニューヨーク・タイムズの報道で明らかになった。
同紙によると、入院の原因や入院期間は明らかになっていない。しかし、ジュリアーニ氏の代理人であるテッド・グッドマン氏は「ジュリアーニ市長は生涯を通じてあらゆる困難に立ち向かってきた闘志の持ち主であり、今もその強さで闘っている」とコメント。さらに「皆さんの祈りをお願いします」と呼びかけた。
現在のところ、具体的な病状や治療内容については公表されていない。
