마홈스는 지난 12월 15일 왼쪽 무릎 ACL과 LCL 파열로 수술을 받았으나, 7주차까지는 복귀할 것으로 전망된다. 시호크스는 지난해 슈퍼볼 챔피언이지만, 마홈스는 이미 세 번의 우승을 차지한 경험이 있다.
양팀의 마지막 맞대결은 2022년 캔자스시티의 홈구장 에로헤드 스타디움에서 열렸으며, 시호크스가 2018년 시애틀에서 열린 일요심야경기에서 38-31로 승리한 바 있다.
