Charlie Cox Finally Plays Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 After 2025 GOTY Win

Actor Charlie Cox, best known for his portrayal of Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again, has finally played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33—the 2025 Game of the Year—nearly a year after its launch.

The delay isn’t surprising. Cox has been deeply immersed in his role as Daredevil, reprising the character in the second season of Born Again after the Netflix series was canceled. However, in a new interview with GamesRadar at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards, Cox revealed that he has finally picked up the game.

"I'm not very good, because obviously, it's a skill set, but I've played it," Cox said during the interview.

The game, which is expected to win additional awards at the BAFTA Games Awards, holds a special place in Cox’s career. He voiced the character Gustave in Expedition 33, a role that has become closely associated with his voice acting.

Cox Admits He’s Not a Big Gamer

Cox has openly admitted that he isn’t a frequent gamer. Last year, he revealed that he knew little about the project after completing his voice work in a short time. Now, he’s at least started playing, though he hasn’t come close to finishing it.

"There are people who've played it, there are people who've completed it, there are people who have 100%'d it, which – as far as I could work out – is 50 plus hours, maybe 100 hours, sometimes, of gameplay," he explained. "I've played the opening bit for a while and kind of walked around and met the people and garnered the information and all that kind of stuff. Not very well."

Cox’s return as Daredevil in Born Again has been widely praised, solidifying his connection to the character after years away from the role. Similarly, his voice work as Gustave in Expedition 33 has left a lasting impression, often linked to actor Robert Pattinson due to the character’s visual design.

Red Carpet Reunion at BAFTA

At the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards, Cox was photographed on the red carpet alongside Ben Starr, his Expedition 33 co-star who voiced the character Verso. Starr has become a prolific voice actor in the gaming industry, while Cox remains a prominent figure in Hollywood.

Fans are eagerly anticipating whether Cox will finish the game after experiencing a pivotal event in the first act. For now, his journey through Expedition 33 has only just begun.
