Tyffon has announced the upcoming release of a VR Chocobo racing attraction based on Square Enix’s critically acclaimed MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV. The attraction is set to launch in Japan in October 2026.

This marks the first attempt to recreate the world of Final Fantasy XIV as a VR experience. As the concept suggests, participants will race on Chocobos, the iconic avian mounts from the game.

According to the official press release, Tyffon will leverage its advanced XR technology in collaboration with Square Enix’s intellectual property to deliver an immersive attraction. The experience is designed to engage multiple senses, allowing participants to see, hear, and feel the virtual environment. While specific details remain limited, potential features may include haptic feedback, fans, and surround sound to enhance realism.

The Final Fantasy XIV Chocobo racing VR attraction will be hosted at Tyffon’s XR theme park, Tyffonium. Currently, Tyffonium operates a single location in Odaiba, Japan, but the company has announced plans to expand both domestically and internationally with additional sites.

Visitors to Tyffonium must make reservations in advance to experience its attractions. Pricing starts at 2,300 JPY ($14.50), and each attraction session lasts between 20 to 30 minutes.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. The game’s next major update, Patch 7.5 Part 1, is scheduled for release on April 28, 2026.
