German tuner G-Power has unleashed a beastly version of the BMW M5, the G5M Bi-Turbo, pushing the sedan’s power output to 986 hp (1,000 PS)—just 1 horsepower shy of the original Bugatti Veyron’s 987 hp (1,001 PS).

The upgrades retain the M5’s factory design while significantly enhancing performance. The base M5 already delivers 717 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, but G-Power’s modifications take it to new heights.

Key Upgrades and Power Levels

  • New downpipes with 200-cell sport catalytic converters
  • Custom exhaust system for improved airflow
  • Upgraded intercoolers to support increased power
  • Eventuri carbon fiber intake (optional)
  • ECU remapping to optimize performance

The power gains are available in stages:

  • 850 PS (838 hp) with a simple tune
  • 900 PS (888 hp) with a sport silencer
  • 950 PS (937 hp) with high-flow downpipes
  • 986 PS (986 hp) with the full Bi-Turbo package

Torque also sees a massive boost, reaching 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm).

Performance and Pricing

While G-Power has not released official acceleration figures, the base M5 sprints from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds. The upgraded G5M Bi-Turbo is expected to be significantly faster with the full 986 hp package.

The full powertrain upgrade package is priced at €31,000 ($36,300), excluding optional components like the €2,856 ($3,350) Eventuri carbon fiber intake and the €892 ($1,045) Eventuri carbon turbo inlet. Both sedan and Touring models are eligible for the upgrades.

G-Power has hinted at even more aggressive upgrades in development, including aftermarket turbochargers, which could push power output even further.

"Regardless of how you feel about the current M5, BMW has to be applauded for not falling into the trap of downsizing and moving away from a V8."

For enthusiasts seeking a near-Veyron level of performance in a BMW, the G5M Bi-Turbo delivers a compelling option without compromising the M5’s iconic design.
