Jaguar has taken a wrecking ball to its own portfolio in a radical bid to compete with Bentley and Rolls-Royce. The British luxury marque’s answer is an all-electric large sedan, tentatively named the ‘GT,’ which stands as the most powerful Jaguar EV yet, boasting at least 1,000 horsepower.

The GT was previewed by the Type 00 Concept and will be the most powerful Jaguar ever to hit the roads. Its final design was selected from 17 full-size clay models before any official previews were released, signaling Coventry’s biggest bet in decades.

The GT’s Radical Design: A Fusion of 1970s Muscle and Cyberpunk Futurism

Unlike Jaguars of old, the GT abandons traditional curves for a bold new direction characterized by monolithic surfaces, hard-edged lines, and proportions that betray its EV underpinnings. The result is a blend of 1970s muscle car aesthetics and Cyberpunk 2077-inspired futurism.

Front Fascia: Blunt, Upright, and Imposing

The GT’s front end is dominated by a blunt, upright, and imposing design. Slim matrix LED headlamps flank a faux rectangular grille panel, while secondary DRLs are positioned above the active cooling shutters to enhance visual width. The hood (or frunk) is exceptionally flat, with only a chamfered leading edge adding any shape.

Profile: A Bold Axle-to-Dash Ratio

In profile, the GT’s proportions are striking. Unlike most EVs, it features an axle-to-dash ratio that could theoretically accommodate a V12 engine—an absurd yet effective design choice. The greenhouse is low and frameless, while the front fender houses the largest charge port door ever seen on a Jaguar. The rear design takes inspiration from the Polestar 5, with a sudden hard cut and the absence of a traditional rear window.

Retro Opulence Meets Avant-Garde Minimalism

The interior of the GT is a stark contrast to its competitors. Jaguar has opted for a minimalist, avant-garde cabin awash with 1980s geometric lines and curved OLED screens. Visibility is intentionally bunker-like, with thick pillars and a camera-based system compensating for the tiny rear hatch.

A three-spoke steering wheel features touch-capacitive button pads and a linear lower inlay that resembles a speaker grille. The drive selector has been moved from the console to the steering column. Recycled luxury materials and splashes of rose gold are used throughout, while rear passengers enjoy generous legroom thanks to a 3.2-meter (126-inch) wheelbase.

Jaguar’s Electric Architecture: Punching Above Its Weight

The GT is based on Jaguar’s dedicated electric vehicle architecture, delivering performance and innovation that defy its class. With at least 1,000 horsepower, it positions Jaguar as a serious contender in the ultra-luxury EV segment, directly challenging Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
