Kia is actively working to bring its Vision Meta Turismo concept into production, despite it currently being a non-production model. The concept first debuted in December 2023 and has since been displayed at Milan Design Week, where it stood alongside other Kia models.

This electric concept aims to recapture the spirit of the brand’s beloved Stinger, a sports sedan that has left a lasting impression on enthusiasts. While the all-electric Kia EV6 GT was intended to fill the Stinger’s shoes, it has yet to match the energy and character of its internal combustion engine (ICE) predecessor.

Design Philosophy and Market Position

The Vision Meta Turismo leans heavily on Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, a theme that has already influenced production models such as the EV9, EV4, and K4. These vehicles, like the concept, blur the line between concept sketches and showroom-ready cars.

Statements from Kia’s Design Leadership

Karim Habib, Kia’s executive vice president of Global Design, emphasized that the Vision Meta Turismo is more than just a design exercise. He revealed that there is genuine interest within the company to bring a production version to market, though the timeline remains uncertain.

“It’s not a production car…at least not yet,” Habib told CarBuzz. “We are still trying to make that happen.”

Key Features of the Vision Meta Turismo

While Habib did not specify what changes would be required to transition the concept into a production model, Kia would need to develop a compelling business case. The Vision Meta Turismo could potentially succeed the Stinger, though its slightly taller stance and expansive cabin—enabled by its all-electric platform—set it apart from traditional sedans.

Kia highlights the concept’s focus on the driving experience, which includes:

  • A joystick-style virtual gear shifter for intuitive control;
  • Virtual engine sounds and vibrations that mimic an ICE powertrain;
  • A GT Boost button and launch control for maximum performance;
  • Customizable powertrain response and suspension sensitivity;
  • Multiple driving modes to tailor the experience.
