Overwatch Mercy players are taking drastic action to protest a recent nerf to the Support hero’s Guardian Angel movement ability.

Frustration over the change has escalated into a coordinated protest, with players allegedly sabotaging matches in an attempt to force Blizzard to revert the update.

Social media posts show players queuing as tanks specifically to disrupt games until the nerf is undone.

What Changed in the April 14 Patch Notes?

In the April 14 season two patch notes, Blizzard reduced the launch speed of Mercy’s Guardian Angel ability by 10%. The update also added Flash Heal to her base kit, replacing Caduceus Staff as her default healing tool.

"Flash Heal has proven to be a compelling and expressive ability and is now being added to Mercy’s base kit. This gives her more reliable on‑demand healing while rewarding thoughtful cooldown management. To account for the added power, some of Mercy’s baseline healing and mobility have been slightly reduced."

Blizzard stated the changes were intended to balance the added power of Flash Heal, which now provides more consistent healing and cooldown management.

Why Are Mercy Players So Upset?

Mercy mains argue that the 10% reduction in Guardian Angel’s launch speed makes it harder to reach teammates quickly, particularly in high-pressure situations. Some players have taken to in-game chats to plead for a reversal:

"If you want this to end, please help us spread the message to Blizzard. Thanks you for your attention."

Others have adopted a more passive-aggressive approach by intentionally performing poorly in matches, hoping to pressure Blizzard into reverting the change.

Social Media Reacts to the "Strike"

The protest has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many users mocking Mercy players for their perceived overreaction:

While some players find the protest amusing, others warn that Mercy mains throwing matches could disrupt competitive play this week.
