Renault’s all-electric Scenic E-Tech is preparing for a mid-cycle refresh just over two years after its initial launch. New spy shots confirm subtle yet notable updates to the electric SUV’s design, including revised front and rear lighting, grille adjustments, and front fascia tweaks.
The refreshed model is expected to go on sale next year, positioning it as a step above the Megane E-Tech in Renault’s expanding electric vehicle lineup. A camouflaged prototype, recently spotted in Europe, closely resembles the recently updated Megane E-Tech, suggesting a cohesive design language across Renault’s EV range.
Key visual updates:
- Redesigned front headlights and LED daytime running lights, now stacked vertically below the headlights
- Slightly revised front bumper and grille, though proportions remain largely unchanged
- New LED taillights at the rear, with final design details still under wraps
The sides of the Scenic E-Tech retain their current design, featuring flush door handles and distinctive silver C-pillars.
Under the Hood: Battery and Powertrain Details
The current Scenic E-Tech is built on Renault’s AmpR Medium architecture, which also underpins the Nissan Ariya and Nissan Leaf. The lineup offers two battery options:
- 60 kWh battery: Powers a 168 hp electric motor, delivering over 260 miles (418 km) of range
- 87 kWh battery: Paired with a 215 hp motor and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque, providing over 379 miles (610 km) of range
Given the competitive range figures—especially for the 87 kWh version—no significant powertrain changes are anticipated. However, recent reports indicate the Megane E-Tech may transition from LG-sourced batteries to AESC units. If confirmed, the Scenic E-Tech could follow suit, aligning with Renault’s broader battery strategy.
