Stellantis has issued a recall for over 20,000 electric vehicles (EVs) after discovering a critical issue with their digital instrument clusters. The affected models include the Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona, both of which may experience blank screens during operation.

This defect poses a significant safety risk, as the blank clusters can prevent drivers from receiving essential warnings about critical systems such as brakes, electronic stability control (ESC), and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS).

Vehicles and Timeline Affected

The recall impacts 100% of the 20,271 vehicles built between March 2024 and November 2025. Specifically, the breakdown is as follows:

  • 11,743 Jeep Wagoneer S EVs
  • 8,528 Dodge Charger Daytona EVs

Root Cause and Recall Details

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Stellantis became aware of the issue on March 10, 2026. The automaker collaborated with its FCA engineering team to investigate the problem through April 2026.

On April 16, 2026, Stellantis decided to issue the recall. The decision was driven by the fact that a blank instrument cluster violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, which mandate that vehicles must alert drivers to issues with systems like ABS, TPMS, and ESC.

Cause of the Issue

Stellantis has not disclosed the exact cause of the blank screens, but the recall filing indicates that the issue is software-related. The proposed remedy involves updating the instrument cluster software to prevent the screens from going blank while the vehicle is in operation.

Dealers will perform the software update as part of the recall process, ensuring that the clusters remain functional and capable of displaying critical safety information.
