ワシントン発 — 米国最高裁判所は、広く使用されている中絶薬「ミフェプリストン」の使用制限を当面見送る決定を下した。これにより、少なくとも木曜日までは、女性が薬局や郵送で薬を入手することが可能となる。また、医師による対面診療の義務化も回避された。
この措置は、連邦控訴裁判所が示したミフェプリストンの使用制限を一時的に凍結するもので、現在の状態が維持されることとなった。
最高裁判事のサミュエル・アリート判事が月曜日に発した命令により、中絶を求める女性は引き続き薬局や郵送でミフェプリストンを入手できる。また、医師による対面診療の義務化も適用されない。
この決定は、ミフェプリストンの使用制限をめぐる議論が続く中で下されたもので、今後の判断が注目される。
