The shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over the weekend sparked urgent discussions on ABC’s 'The View', where hosts questioned whether this incident could finally lead to meaningful gun reform in the U.S.

The incident dominated Monday’s Hot Topics segment, with all hosts condemning political violence. While praising the Secret Service’s response, Sunny Hostin expressed concern that the shooter managed to travel across the country with a weapon. Ana Navarro, however, focused on the broader implications of the attack.

Navarro highlighted the presence of top political leaders at the dinner, emphasizing that they now share the same fear experienced by schoolchildren during mass shootings.

“That room was full of some of the most important political leaders in the country right now. Now they know, they’ve lived it in their own flesh, the fear that our schoolchildren go through. Now they know what it’s like to have to jump under a table the way that schoolchildren jump under a desk.”

She also underscored the U.S.’s vulnerability to mass shootings, citing incidents in various locations and calling for action after past tragedies like Sandy Hook.

“But maybe now that they have felt the fear themselves, they will do something on gun reform.”

Politicians have faced gun violence threats before, including President Trump, who posted on Truth Social after Saturday’s shooting that the incident reinforced the need for a secure ballroom at the White House.
