German tuning firm Brabus has officially unveiled its latest coachbuilt model, the Bodo, a high-performance supercar that eclipses the Aston Martin Vanquish in power and prestige.
Design and Aerodynamics
The Bodo features a striking carbon fiber body paired with a 2+2 interior configuration. Its aggressive front end blends elements from the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 and the Ford Mustang RTR, including a prominent grille flanked by dual ram air intakes. Unique LED matrix headlights and a large front splitter enhance its bold aesthetic.
The car’s long hood, rakish windscreen, and gently sloping roof contribute to a sleek profile. Additional design highlights include a fixed panoramic glass roof, 21-inch wheels wrapped in specially developed Continental SportContact 7 Force tires, and a carbon-ceramic braking system with massive discs measuring 16.1 inches (410 mm) at the front and 14.1 inches (360 mm) at the rear.
The rear end is equally dramatic, featuring stacked tailpipes and a power deployable spoiler that acts as an air brake when braking above 87 mph (140 km/h). The Bodo’s dimensions—199.3 inches (5,062 mm) long, 79.8 inches (2,027 mm) wide, and 51.4 inches (1,305 mm) tall—make it notably larger than the Aston Martin Vanquish, which measures 191.1 inches (4,855 mm) in length.
Interior Highlights
While the greenhouse hints at its Aston Martin lineage, the Bodo’s 2+2 interior sets it apart. Key components carry over from the Vanquish, but the dashboard has been revamped with new circular air vents. A revised steering wheel, featuring carbon fiber trim and a “B” logo, complements the updates.
The cabin blends premium leather and carbon fiber, accented with Shadow Gray details, special sill plates, and ergonomically contoured seats designed for both comfort and lateral support during high-speed driving. The seats even feature the silhouette of the Bodo embroidered on the backrests.
Performance and Powertrain
At the heart of the Bodo is a twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12 engine, delivering an impressive 986 hp (735 kW / 1,000 PS) and 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque. This powertrain far surpasses the Aston Martin Vanquish, which produces 824 hp (614 kW / 835 PS) and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque.
The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling the Bodo to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just three seconds. The top speed is estimated to reach 186 mph (300 km/h), though Brabus has not confirmed this figure.
Limited Production and Legacy
The Brabus Bodo honors the company’s founder, Bodo Buschmann, and will be limited to just 77 units worldwide. The model was unveiled at the FuoriConcorso in Italy, marking a departure for Brabus after nearly two decades of development.
The Bodo represents Brabus’s boldest foray into the Gran Turismo segment, blending British inspiration with German engineering and Italian flair.
