“Dancing With the Stars” announced its first two celebrity contestants for Season 35 on Wednesday, with reality stars Ciara Miller and Maura Higgins set to compete on the iconic ballroom dance competition series.
Miller, known for her role on Bravo’s “Summer House,” joins the franchise after completing her fifth consecutive season on the show and her notable appearance on “The Traitors.” Higgins, a recent finalist on Peacock’s “The Traitors,” gained fame through her breakout role on “Love Island UK” and hosting spinoffs such as “Love Island USA: Aftersun.”
The full cast of celebrities and professional dancers will be revealed in the coming weeks, according to the network. “Dancing With the Stars” will premiere this fall on ABC and Disney+, with episodes available the next day on Hulu.
Reality Stars Expand Beyond Their Franchises
Higgins has expanded her career beyond reality TV, establishing herself as a full-time model and fashion influencer. She has made appearances at high-profile events, including the Golden Globes, British Fashion Awards, and the TIME 100 Gala.
Miller has collaborated with major studios such as Apple and Warner Bros. Pictures for red carpet coverage. In addition to her modeling work, she previously served as an ICU nurse. Miller has recently been in the spotlight due to relationship drama involving her “Summer House” co-stars Amanda Batula and West Wilson.
‘The Next Pro’ Spinoff Premieres This Summer
“Dancing With the Stars” also confirmed the return of its spinoff series, “The Next Pro”, which will premiere on ABC and Hulu this summer. The reality competition follows 12 up-and-coming dancers vying for a spot on the main series and will debut on July 13.
Robert Irwin, Season 34 champion, will host the new spinoff. The judging panel includes three-time mirrorball champion Mark Ballas and his mother, Shirley Ballas. The third judge will be a returning professional dancer, serving as both a judge and mentor for the contestants.
Mark Ballas most recently competed on “Dancing With the Stars” alongside Whitney Leavitt, star of “Mormon Wives,” and appeared as a contestant on Season 4 of “The Traitors.”
