Morgan has long proven that vintage aesthetics and cutting-edge performance can coexist. With the new Supersport 400, the Malvern-based automaker has taken that philosophy further than ever before.

The Heart of the Supersport 400: BMW’s Turbocharged Inline-Six

At the core of the Supersport 400 lies BMW’s 3.0-liter B58 turbocharged inline-six engine, the same powerplant found in the Toyota GR Supra. Morgan has tuned it to produce 402 bhp (406 PS), making it the first production Morgan to surpass the 400-horsepower threshold.

This powertrain enables the lightweight two-seater to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds—two-tenths quicker than the standard Supersport. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, with buyers having the option to add limited-slip functionality to the rear differential.

Modern Chassis and Handling Refinements

Despite its pre-war styling, the Supersport 400 rides on a state-of-the-art aluminum chassis. Standard equipment includes Morgan’s Dynamic Handling Pack, which features:

  • Revised suspension geometry for improved handling;
  • Forged 19-inch Sportlite wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires;
  • Adjustable Nitron dampers with 24 tuning clicks for adaptability to various road conditions.

Visual upgrades set the Supersport 400 apart from its siblings, including new front fender vents for enhanced airflow, contrasting lower body finishes, and a new active performance exhaust. Bronze wheels are available as a £995 ($1,350) option.

Interior: Analog Spirit with Contemporary Touches

The cabin retains a classic feel while incorporating modern refinements. New Alcantara trim choices, bespoke stitching, and custom gauges enhance the interior. Behind the scenes, modern electronics manage operations seamlessly. Buyers can also opt for an aluminum gear selector to replace the standard BMW unit.

Pricing and Availability

The Supersport 400 starts at £112,965 ($152,600) before taxes, translating to £135,558 ($183,200) in the UK. This represents a significant increase over the stock Supersport, which remains in production at £105,723 ($142,900).

Production begins next month at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road facility in Malvern. As with all Morgan models, the Supersport 400 will be coach-built and highly customizable, ensuring no two examples are identical.

"Morgan has spent decades proving that old-world charm and modern performance can happily share a single-car garage."
