The Welcome Center is your first base away from the lifepod after reaching the ocean surface in Subnautica 2. Located approximately 95 metres to the right of your lifepod, this abandoned facility requires power restoration to become fully functional.
How to Power Up the Welcome Center in Subnautica 2
To restore power, you will need a Basic Battery. Craft it using the Fabricator with the following resources:
- Two Copper – Easily found by mining cave walls. Check the cave directly beneath your lifepod for this resource.
- One Acidic Raion Pouch – Requires a Multitool to obtain. First, mine Titanium from the same cave as Copper. Use the Titanium to craft a Multitool, then mine a plant yielding a Gel Sac. Without the Multitool, you cannot retrieve the Acidic Raion Pouch.
Return to your lifepod, craft the Basic Battery using the Fabricator, and dive to the Welcome Center. Insert the battery into the facility to power it up.
A coral in the center of the room allows you to refill oxygen. Once powered, you can select your first biomods.
Best Welcome Center Biomods to Pick in Subnautica 2
At the Welcome Center, you unlock your first Active and Passive biomods. Two options are available for each category. Here are the top choices:
Active Biomods
- Dash
"It's an amazing biomod that allows you to perform a 10m dash to your target location. There's a five-second cooldown, and you can use this ability to escape enemies or move faster in dire situations, like when you're about to run out of oxygen."
Passive Biomods
- Sea Skimmer
"While Oxygen Control is a good choice, you can bypass its use with the use of advanced tools. Instead, Sea Skimmer allows you to move faster in the depths when you're near the seabed. I like it as I often love to explore the deeper areas to find those rare resources."
While many powerful biomods unlock later in the game, the initial options at the Welcome Center are highly useful for early survival when you are at your weakest.
