最高裁判所はこのほど、ルイジアナ州対カレー事件（発音は「ウェイレイ」に近い）に関する92ページに及ぶ判決文を公表した。同判決は、憲法上の重要な論点を含むものであり、2026年版の選挙法関連書籍「バーネット/ブラックマン補遺版」に向けて、筆者が約16ページに要約した。
今回の要約作業では、憲法問題（ConLaw）に焦点を当てたため、投票権法第2条や1982年の改正、ギングルス基準に関する歴史的経緯の多くは割愛された。また、複雑な手続き経緯についても詳細な記述は省略した。最高裁は「更新された基準」の適用が容易であると判断したため、これらの省略が実質的な影響を及ぼす可能性は低いとみられる。
