The Mercedes-Benz GLC L EV is a China-focused electric SUV that expands on the standard GLC EQ platform with a longer wheelbase, additional rear length, and a six-seat option. Unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, it competes directly with the BMW iX3 LWB while introducing premium features tailored for the Chinese market.

The new electric SUV measures 4,950 mm (194.9 inches) in overall length, with a 3,027 mm (119.2 inches) wheelbase—105 mm (4.1 inches) longer than the global GLC EV. This includes 55 mm (2.1 inches) added between the axles. Compared to the EQE SUV, it stretches an additional 87 mm (3.4 inches), and surpasses the BMW iX3 LWB by 64 mm (2.5 inches).

Visually, the GLC L EV’s extended dimensions are evident. The rear doors are longer, the quarter glass extends further back, and the tailgate sits more upright. Despite these changes, the SUV retains the standard GLC EQ’s design cues, including the star-pattern LED lighting and illuminated grille.

Inside, the GLC L EV prioritizes space and technology. A 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen dominates the dashboard, while the six-seat configuration—available in a three-row layout—sets it apart from competitors. Second-row passengers enjoy individual captain’s chairs with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, enhancing comfort for long journeys.

The GLC L EV is initially offered with dual electric motors producing 416 hp (310 kW / 421 PS) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. While this is less than the global dual-motor GLC EV’s 483 hp (360 kW / 489 PS), Mercedes notes that the difference is unlikely to impact daily driving. The Chinese-spec model features a smaller 85.5 kWh battery (compared to the global 94 kWh pack) but still delivers a CLTC range of over 700 km (435 miles).

The reduced battery capacity reflects weight targets, local sourcing constraints, and the challenges of integrating a third row into a five-seat platform. The GLC L EV rides on a stretched version of Mercedes’ MB.EA platform, equipped with an 800V architecture shared with the new electric C-Class.

For enhanced comfort and maneuverability, buyers can opt for the Agility Comfort Package, which includes S-Class-derived hardware such as Airmatic air suspension and rear-axle steering.
