Otter AI Introduces New Features to Turn Meeting Transcripts into Institutional Knowledge
Otter AI, a leader in real-time meeting transcription and AI-powered note-taking, is expanding its platform to transform meeting transcripts into institutional knowledge. The company’s audio transcription tool has evolved to join and transcribe online meetings in real time, while its AI chat tool allows users to query meeting content. Now, Otter AI is adding new AI-driven features to integrate meeting knowledge with other business data sources.
Seamless Integrations with Business Tools
Otter AI is integrating with popular business software, including Google Drive, Jira, Salesforce, and Notion. These integrations enable Otter’s AI to access live data from these platforms, allowing it to pull relevant information—such as emails or customer databases—to provide context-rich answers to follow-up questions from recorded meetings.
Server Functionality Expands AI Agent Access
Otter AI has introduced server functionality that allows other AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Claude, to connect via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This enables other AI agents to access Otter’s meeting data with proper permissions, fostering a collaborative ecosystem where multiple AI systems can extract insights from shared meeting transcripts.
Enhanced AI Chat for Smarter Insights
The AI chat feature has been improved to let users specify which meetings or data sources to query. This allows for more precise insights, whether pulling information from a single meeting or aggregating trends across multiple sessions. Otter cofounder and CEO Sam Liang highlights the challenge of keeping corporate knowledge bases up to date, noting that documents often become obsolete quickly while meeting updates remain current.
Addressing Corporate Knowledge Gaps with AI-Powered Meeting Insights
“People create documents, but documents become obsolete really fast,” says Liang. “The latest updates are often presented in meetings, yet this information isn’t always systematically accessible.”
Research shows that white-collar workers spend a significant portion of their time in meetings, yet insights from these sessions are frequently siloed in individual accounts or hard-to-access transcripts. Otter AI’s Channels feature addresses this by allowing groups of users to share access to meeting recordings and transcripts, enabling AI agents to surface new insights—such as trends from sales calls or departmental meetings.
Privacy and Control Remain a Priority
Otter AI emphasizes privacy and compliance with its new features. Companies can control internal access to meetings through Channels, and organizations can set data retention policies for both audio recordings and transcripts. Users can also pause recording or eject Otter’s AI notetaker at any time.
“We provide a data retention mechanism so that enterprises can decide how long they want to keep the audio recording,” Liang explains.
Improved Desktop Client for Better Recording
Otter AI is also rolling out an improved desktop client for Mac and Windows, making it easier to record meetings directly from a computer. While some companies prefer Otter’s AI agent to join calls on platforms like Zoom—ensuring transparency with clear recording notifications—the new desktop client offers additional flexibility for users.
Future of AI-Powered Meeting Intelligence
By bridging the gap between meeting transcripts and actionable business knowledge, Otter AI aims to unlock insights that are often lost in traditional documentation. The platform’s integrations, AI chat enhancements, and server functionality position it as a key tool for enterprises seeking to harness the full potential of their meeting data.
