When a K-pop group invites fans to a virtual meet-and-greet inside a video game, the results can be unpredictable. That’s exactly what happened when LE SSERAFIM, one of my favorite K-pop groups, hosted an event in Roblox to promote their second full album, PUREFLOW Pt. 1, scheduled for release on May 22.

The event took place in Berry Avenue, a Roblox game featuring a fully themed recreation of Seoul, South Korea. The map included photos of the members, fireworks, themed shops, and even NPC versions of the group dancing on stage. Players could enter a portal to explore the virtual city, but the real excitement was supposed to be the meet-and-greet itself.

For the 30-minute duration of the event, global chat messages from the members appeared at the top of the screen. However, most players found it impossible to locate the group in-game. The members were reportedly in a separate server managed by Roblox developers, leaving fans frustrated and confused.

Efforts to find the group were widespread. Fans shared updates on Discord and social media, but success was rare. One fan from the LE SSERAFIM Discord server, Haru, managed to see the members in their lobby along with a friend and a Roblox developer. Unfortunately, Haru was kicked from the server shortly after.

"It was honestly fine, it was just the chat was blocked so I couldn't really see who was typing. But if it was a meet and greet, wouldn't it be more accessible? I was just chilling in their server and got banned."

The event left many fans in the FEARNOT community—LE SSERAFIM’s official fanbase—disappointed or confused. While the group members likely had little control over the event’s execution, the 30-player server limit imposed by Berry Avenue made the experience unnecessarily difficult for fans. One fan’s tweet highlighted the chaos, while another shared screenshots of the event’s limitations.

Despite the lack of direct interaction, the event still had its moments. Fans enjoyed watching global chat messages appear on screen and following along with others. One of the group’s members, Yunjin, posted a message in the game’s global chat, adding a personal touch to the experience.
