Pininfarina and JAS Motorsport have pulled back the curtain on the NSX Tensei restomod at Milano Design Week, showcasing a radical transformation of Honda’s legendary supercar.

Redesigned Proportions and Iconic Styling

The Tensei features a longer wheelbase, shorter rear overhang, wider track, and a lower stance compared to the original NSX. Lead designer Dimitri Vicedomini noted that once these proportions were finalized, "the car almost designed itself."

The widened rear shoulders and flared fenders create Pininfarina’s signature "triangular gestures in plan view," a design language reminiscent of the Ferrari 288 GTO. The restomod retains key design elements from the original NSX, including pop-up headlights and an integral rear spoiler, though in updated forms.

Pure Driving Experience: Naturally Aspirated V6 and Six-Speed Manual

Under the carbon fiber body lies a naturally aspirated V6 engine based on the original NSX’s architecture, engineered for maximum power, torque, and responsiveness. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the Tensei offers a pure driving experience without turbos, electrification, or paddle shifters.

"The kind of powertrain setup that’ll make modern supercar buyers feel like they backed the wrong horse," the article notes, "even if the Tensei delivers far fewer horses."

Luxury Interior with Bespoke Craftsmanship

Pininfarina has focused on the interior, maintaining the original’s driver-focused ergonomics and visibility while introducing "higher perceived quality." Expect bespoke switchgear and premium materials, with hopes for analog gauges over digital displays.

Historical Roots and Hand-Built Craftsmanship

The collaboration between Pininfarina and Honda dates back to 1984, when the two worked on the HP-X concept, a mid-engined sports car that inspired the NSX. The Tensei will be hand-built at JAS Motorsport’s atelier in Arluno, near Milan, with customization options handled at Pininfarina’s facility in Cambiano, Turin.

The full reveal of the NSX Tensei is scheduled for later in 2026, when details on pricing and availability are expected to be announced.
