FBIのカシュ・パテル長官は、自身の飲酒問題を報じた米誌「ザ・アトランティック」を相手取り、提訴した。米国時間9月9日、ワシントンD.C.の米連邦地方裁判所に訴状が提出された。
同誌は先週、パテル長官の「過度の飲酒が業務に悪影響を及ぼしている」とする記事を掲載。その中で、警護隊が酩酊状態の長官を起こすのに苦労したとの具体的な事例も紹介された。
パテル長官側は、記事がプライバシーの侵害と名誉毀損に該当すると主張。事実に基づかない虚偽の報道が自身の評判を傷つけたと訴えている。
ザ・アトランティック側は、現時点でコメントを発表していない。
