UK Lotus Dealers Slash Prices on Taycan Rival by Up to 40%

UK Lotus dealers are offering unprecedented discounts on new all-electric models, including the flagship Emeya R, a direct rival to the Porsche Taycan. Prices for unregistered vehicles have been reduced from £140,105 ($189,330) to as low as £89,950 ($121,550), representing a 40% discount.

Massive Discounts Across Multiple Dealers

Autotrader UK currently lists 15 brand-new, unregistered Lotus Emeya models for sale, with most deals centered on the high-performance R variant. The most significant reduction is at Endeavour Lotus West London, where a Kaimi Grey Emeya R is priced at £89,950, down from £140,105.

Nearby in Hatfield, another dealer is offering two new Emeya Rs with savings of £43,755 ($59,130) each. In Colchester, Endeavour Lotus has reduced prices on four additional Emeya Rs by similar amounts.

Hybrid Versions Coming Soon to Boost Sales

In response to slow electric vehicle (EV) sales, Lotus is accelerating plans to introduce hybrid versions of its Emeya sedan and Eletre SUV. The hybrid Eletre, already available in China as the "Lotus For Me," combines a 2.0-liter combustion engine with a twin-motor 900-volt electrical system and a 70 kWh battery, producing 939 hp (952 PS / 700 kW). Western markets are expected to receive the hybrid Eletre later this year, with the hybrid Emeya following closely behind.

Comparing Discounted Emeya R to Newer Models

While Lotus has rebranded its lineup with 600 and 900 power outputs, the discounted Emeya R models remain highly competitive. For example, a new 900 Sport is priced at £129,990 ($175,660), and a 900 Carbon model costs £139,990 ($189,180). Even the lower-spec Emeya 600 GT, with 603 hp (612 PS / 450 kW), is available with a £15,000 ($20,300) discount, bringing its price to £95,000 ($128,400) with options.

Global Trend: Automakers Reassessing EV Commitments

Lotus is not alone in reassessing its EV strategy. Around the world, automakers are scaling back or delaying plans to go "all-in" on electric vehicles. The shift toward hybrid models reflects a broader industry trend as consumer demand and market conditions evolve.

Should You Buy Now or Wait for Hybrids?

With discounts of up to 40% on new Emeya models, potential buyers face a decision: take advantage of the current deals or wait for the upcoming hybrid versions. The hybrid Emeya and Eletre are expected to arrive later this year, offering a blend of performance and efficiency.

Would the significant savings on the Emeya R tempt you into purchasing now, or would you prefer to wait for the hybrid options?
