Thai Company RRS Turns Toyota Hilux into Heavy-Duty Tipper Trucks
Thai company Rung Rueng Service (RRS) specializes in aftermarket conversions, transforming the ninth-generation Toyota Hilux—known as the Hilux Travo in Thailand—into heavy-duty tipper trucks. The single-cab version has been fitted with a tilting bed mechanism designed to handle substantial loads.
Modular Tipper Kits for Maximum Utility
The rear section of the truck can be customized with either a chopped factory bed or a high-strength steel structure. Standard bed dimensions measure 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in length, 1,760 mm (69.3 in) in width, and 600 mm (23.6 in) in height, with optional heights up to 800 mm (31.5 in).
For enhanced hauling capability, RRS offers a floating rear axle paired with a heavy-duty rear leaf spring setup and upgraded 20 mm (0.78 in) core shock absorbers. These modifications enable the truck to carry up to 5,000 kg (11,023 lbs) of cargo while maintaining stability under maximum load.
Hydraulic Tipping Systems and Optional Crane
The tilting mechanism is available in two configurations:
- Electric dump system: Tipping capacity between 3,000–5,000 kg (6,614–11,023 lbs), depending on setup.
- PTO-driven system: Powered by the diesel engine for more intensive use.
An optional 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs) crane can be mounted behind the cabin, enabling solo loading and unloading of heavy equipment or materials. This feature turns the Toyota Hilux into a self-sufficient mobile workstation.
No Chassis Modifications Required
RRS’s tipper builds are designed as modular kits, eliminating the need for cutting or welding the donor vehicle’s ladder-frame chassis. The reverse camera and parking sensors are relocated to the new tipper chassis, ensuring all factory systems remain fully functional.
Customization Options and Styling
The company has showcased multiple Hilux tipper builds on its social media, ranging from entry-level trims in white to rugged versions featuring:
- Aftermarket bull bars
- Underbody protection
- Extra LED lighting
- Lenso alloy wheels with mud-terrain tires
All tippers retain the single-cab bodystyle to prioritize bed size and functionality.
Expanding Beyond the Toyota Hilux
In addition to the Toyota Hilux, RRS applies the same conversion treatment to other midsize pickups, including recently launched models.
