米国食品医薬品局（FDA）は16日、乳児用粉ミルクの安全性に関する新たな調査結果を発表した。同局が実施した検査では、16ブランド計312検体の粉ミルクを対象に、重金属や農薬、PFAS（有機フッ素化合物）などの汚染物質を分析した。
その結果、ほとんどの検体で汚染物質が検出限界以下か極めて低いレベルにとどまり、鉛・水銀・カドミウム・ヒ素の含有量は、いずれも飲料水の基準値を下回っていたことが明らかになった。
FDAは「乳児用粉ミルクは引き続き安全に利用できる」と結論付けている。同調査は、消費者の不安払拭と製品の品質確保を目的としたもので、今後も継続的なモニタリングを実施する方針だ。
