Thailand’s Rung Rueng Service (RRS) has transformed the ninth-generation Toyota Hilux into a heavy-duty tipper truck, expanding its capabilities for industrial and commercial use. The conversion allows the popular pickup to haul up to 5,000 kg (11,023 lbs) without compromising stability.
The company specializes in aftermarket modifications, including turning the Hilux into dump trucks and tippers. The single-cab Hilux Travo, as it is marketed in Thailand, now features a tilting bed designed to handle loads that would overwhelm a standard midsize pickup.
The rear section of the truck can be customized with either a chopped factory bed or a high-strength steel structure, available in multiple heights and configurations. Standard bed dimensions measure 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in length, 1,760 mm (69.3 in) in width, and 600 mm (23.6 in) in height, with optional heights reaching up to 800 mm (31.5 in).
For enhanced hauling performance, RRS offers a floating rear axle paired with a heavy-duty rear leaf spring setup and upgraded 20 mm (0.78 in) core shock absorbers. These modifications enable the truck to carry up to 5,000 kg (11,023 lbs) while maintaining stability under maximum load.
The hydraulic tilting mechanism is available in two configurations: an electric dump system capable of handling 3,000–5,000 kg (6,614–11,023 lbs) depending on setup, and a PTO-driven system powered by the diesel engine for more intensive use.
One standout feature is the optional 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs) crane, mounted behind the cabin. This addition allows for solo loading and unloading of heavy equipment or materials, effectively turning the Hilux into a self-sufficient mobile workstation.
RRS emphasizes that its tipper builds are designed as modular kits, eliminating the need for cutting or welding the donor vehicle’s ladder-frame chassis. The reverse camera and parking sensors are relocated to the new tipper chassis, ensuring all factory systems remain fully functional.
The company has showcased multiple Hilux tipper builds on its social media, featuring variations from entry-level trims in white to ruggedized models with aftermarket bull bars, underbody protection, extra LED lighting, and Lenso alloy wheels fitted with mud-terrain tires. All tippers retain the single-cab bodystyle to prioritize bed size.
Beyond the Toyota Hilux, RRS also applies its heavy-duty conversion expertise to other midsize pickup models, further expanding its aftermarket offerings.
