Formula E’s latest generation of race cars is redefining electric motorsport with unprecedented power, efficiency, and innovation. The upcoming 2026/2027 season will introduce the fourth-generation (GEN4) cars, and Porsche has unveiled its entrant: the 975 RSE.

This all-electric racer delivers up to 805 hp in Attack Mode, a significant upgrade from the previous 604 hp cap during regular racing. The powertrain features permanent all-wheel drive and new tires designed to maximize traction, ensuring power is efficiently transferred to the track. Each car is equipped with a 51.25 kWh battery pack and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 1.8 seconds.

The 975 RSE is remarkably lightweight, weighing only 2,103 lbs (954 kg)—lighter than a Mazda MX-5 Miata. This combination of power and agility positions it to outperform even supercars in acceleration and cornering.

Key Features of the GEN4 Formula E Cars

  • Recuperation Power: Up to 700 kW of regenerative braking energy recovery from front and rear axles.
  • Ultra-Fast Charging: Supports charging at speeds up to 600 kW.
  • Advanced Aerodynamics: Redesigned front splitter, multi-level nose cone, and complex aero elements for maximum downforce.
  • Rear Wing Design: A flowing wing enhances stability and speed.

The livery displayed is for testing purposes only; the final race-ready design will debut at the start of the season.

Porsche’s Dominance in Formula E

Porsche is leading both the drivers’ and teams’ championships in the current 2025/2026 season. The brand has a strong track record, having secured the teams’ title in 2024-2025 and the drivers’ championship in 2023-2024 with Pascal Wehrlein as the current leader.

“The 975 RSE and its competitors are a massive step forward for the sport. I’m a big fan of how aggressively you can drive. Especially in qualifying, when everyone is pushing to the limit, it should be spectacular—particularly because of the strong acceleration out of the corners. I’m glad I was involved in the simulator work from the beginning. Pascal and I share the testing duties. That’s good, because it allows us to tailor the 975 RSE precisely to our needs.”

— Nico Müller, Porsche factory driver
